This one started with a simple question: "How can I send updates to my Twitter account when I update my DotNetNuke blog?" The answer was amazingly easy.
My buddy Mark asked the question in a tweet to me. I didn't have a clue, but a quick Google search turned up code to send a tweet. Very quickly I wrote a quick application that would send tweets to my account. I wondered what it would take to incorporate that into something that could be integrated with the DotNetNuke Blog module, or with Ventrian News Articles -- the module I use for this blog.
Fortunately, I also brought Antonio Chagoury into the conversation. Within a few minutes, Antonio turned me on to TwitterFeed, a free web service that will post to your Twitter account when RSS feeds are updated. And, both the Blog module and Ventrian News Articles produce RSS feeds. Within minutes, I'd signed up for an account and also configured my own blog's RSS feed.
This blog post will now show up in my Twitter account. Check it and see -- I'm josephncraig.
Oh, and there's another solution: If you use Windows Live Writer to post your entries.... there is a Twitter plug in that will automatically post to twitter once you post.
Thanks Antonio, and I hope that this works for you, too, Mark! |
